Definition - NIT: Abbreviation for Network information table. Table containing the technical data (PID and SR) at the reception and recognition receptors programs transmitted. Also referred to as Program map table (PMT). DVB-SI specifies the digital information needed to identify the broadcast system. Required include Network Information Table (NIT), to identify the distributor, the Service Description Table (SDT) for the name of channels broadcast the Event Information Table (EIT), which can provide information on programs (summaries, etc..) and time and Data Table (TDT), to get the date and time. Some are optional, such as Bouquet Association Table (BAT), the Running Association Table (RST) and Stuffing tables (ST).
