"Tripnomatic Fairytales 2002" marks the second half of the "Fairytales" trance dance music project. However, if you are expecting the driving dance beats of their first album "Tripnomatic Fairytales 2001," be prepared for something different. The "2002" album focuses less on dance and more on trance giving the album a more subdued feeling.
This music is probably better suited for self reflection than the dance floor. The majority of songs are instrumental, like the "2001" album, but more experimental. This is evident on tracks like "N.A.S.A" and "Casteneda Future Illuminations." The "2002" album tries to set up a sonic atmosphere rather than a beat and focuses more on instrumentation and melody.
Instead of the high powered female vocalists of the "2001" album, a deep sensual male vocalist takes their place. As heard in "The Future is in Small Hands", and "A Secret Kind of Love." The "2002" album as a whole leans more towards ambient than techno. Although this album does have it's good points, it is a dissappointment to those who expect Jam & Spoon's trance dance music, for which they are known for.

The first of Jam & Spoon's separately released but thematically linked Tripomatic Fairytales focuses on uptempo eco-techno and trance, as on the highlights "Heart of Africa," "Neurotrance Adventure," "Stella, and "Odyssey to Anyoona." They compile a frequently entertaining set.
There is any number of ways to conclude what sort of album Tripomatic Fairytales 2001 is: genre classic; underground burner; failed crossover attempt; - it tends to boil down to your level of cynicism, I suppose.
Of course, I'd recommend this album for anyone who wishes to have a piece of trance history in their collection but it should be forewarned you will be getting a release with a lot of variety. Yes, I know this is supposed to be a good thing but I've known many folks who were disappointed in 2001 because it wasn't filled with copies of Right In The Night or Stella . Keep your mind open to what these two were trying out here and you're sure to enjoy their little fairytale several years on.

Another very eclectic compilation from the German duo Jam and Spoon. If you do not have this CD then you need to order it!
A masterpiece! this CD combines strong beats with synthesized orchestrations that will have you playing it over and over. The lead female vocalist will captivate you with her strong and lush vocalizations. A MUST have CD for Jam and Spoon fans.
